Protests, Peregrines & Spring Migration: May 2025
Environmental advocates push back on Bill 5, four urban peregrines hatch, and Toronto's coyote issue reveals a human dimension.
MAY IN REVIEW
Howdy everyone, I hope you have all been doing well.
This month’s newsletter is dedicated to the memory of Elaine "Melba" Marlene Fry, who sadly passed away on May 15th, 2025. Elaine was a supporter of Random Photo Adventure, and she will be deeply missed.
This May, my girlfriend, Hayley, and I travelled to Point Pelee National Park to experience the spring migration. We had heard Point Pelee was a hotspot for spring birding, but we couldn’t have expected what we encountered. In every direction we looked, massive flocks of Red-winged Blackbirds, Common Grackles, and Yellow Warblers were everywhere during our visit. I hope to detail more about our spring migration adventure soon in an upcoming article, so stay tuned!
May also saw me travelling to the City of Toronto to write about a protest against the Ford Government’s Bill 5, or “Protect Ontario by Unleashing our Economy Act, 2025,” hosted by the Water Warriors.
The City of Toronto was also the focus of one of the first investigations conducted by the Random Photo Adventure Chronicles, regarding its handling of the recent coyote issue in the Liberty Village and Fort York areas.
Until the next one!
-Greg
