What is a substantive change?
A substantive change is any correction that alters the facts, quotes, or core findings of a story. In accordance with our Code of Ethics, minor technical fixes, such as correcting a typo, a grammatical error, or a broken link, will be made without a formal notice, provided the original reporting remains unchanged.
Any change that affects the report's meaning or accuracy will be documented here and noted in the article.

Federal review underway on emergency protection for Wasaga Piping Plovers
Correction (1:45 p.m. EST): Updated to correct the location of the Piping Plover nesting area at Wasaga Beach. Following clarification from Birds Canada, the habitat is located east of Spruce Street in Beach Area 1, not west.
Correction (5:11 p.m. EST): Updated to reflect a quote correction from Phil Pothen. The statement regarding the Minister was updated from “fight” to “bite.”
